Presenting... FOREST (official trailer).
Having your students create a movie trailer based on their Genius Hour, or on other Rich Performance Assessment Tasks, allows them to truly figure out their key points/purpose of their project, and then present them in a fun and engaging way. Through creating movie trailers, every student could present the concept of their project to the class, without giving everything away. Movie trailers are also easily accessible. The one above was created with a camera and an iMovie template. While I typically use Adobe Premier Pro to edit films that I create, for this assignment I wanted to use something I would present the kids with, something that was accessible. iMovie presents you with various movie trailer templates, and it takes you through step by step in creating your trailer! It was very easy to use, and I could see kids as young as Grade 2 using this.
Emily! This movie trailer is amazing! The production value is awesome, it really models a movie trailer well. I was in suspense and on the edge of my seat while watching this, and you really left me thinking and wondering what was going on and what was going to happen next. It is a great hook into your Genius Hour Project! I am super curious to find out what your question is and what you've been up to these past 10 weeks (which is exactly what your goal should be for this project). Excellent job!
